Black Girls Code RobotExpo at UC Berkeley was a huge success! Presenting my Squishy Circuits workshop at Soda Hall for the morning session with about 30 girls was such an amazing experience. Technology is such a prevailing field in our society today and focusing on providing educational opportunities in technology to girls, especially African American girls, to close the gender gap, is such an important issue. I love working with the junior girls (age 10-13) as they were all so enthusiastic and talented. The second afternoon session was Arduino, and following that, the event ended with all the girls presenting what they learned during the two sessions to their parents. Watching girls from all ages learn about technology and coding was just magnificent. Organizations like Black Girls Code are really helping close the gender gap as more women are pursuing technology related jobs! Good job girls!
